Sara won her match in the Fed Cup today in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3 over Kateryna Bondarenko. She played very solid, and served especially well. In the whole match, she didn’t face a single breakpoint.

In her own words after the match:

“I served well, which is a good thing. I had to stay focused, especially because sometimes she’d play a very good point, and sometimes make trivial errors“.

“The court has helped me and in this period I have so much confidence: I feel good and I hope to improve more, day after day. Playing with the blue shirt is a joy.
I’m playing well, I have confidence but I don’t think in one single tournament I have reached Flavia and Francesca. I hope to gain Corrado’s trust more and more. I am always ready for any match, singles or doubles. The many training sessions this week, where I played well, helped me. I was not tense the night before the match, indeed I had a great desire to enter into field and play.”

About her new racket:

“It’s helping me in a crazy way: at forehand and service in particular. It gives me more strength and security in the shots. Compared to the previous one it’s a centimeter longer. It’s also a little heavier. “

Unfortunately, Francesca Schiavone lost against Lesia Tsurenko, so Italy and Ukraine are tied at 1-1. Tomorrow, Sara will play the second match of the day, against Tsurenko.
