What a performance against the young Hibi for our Sara Errani, who gets off to a flying start and runs towards the next round of the fourth and last Grand Slam tournament of the year.

As the first hours of day were passing, the n.1 of Italy got on court to officially launch her road to victory in this US Open 2015 – held as usual in Flushing Meadows – against the Japanese – n.177 in world’s ranking and Grand Slam first timer – Mayo Hibi. To “welcome” her in the majors, none other than our warrior herself, who, unfortunately for the girl, didn’t go soft on it and scored almost a double bagel in less than 60 minutes.
The Japanese tried to shake herself in the beginning of the second set and force a serve break on the 16-seeded of the draw, but still she couldn’t help but postpone the match timer. Final score: 6-0, 6-1.

Here’s Sarita comments during her post-match press conference:

“I honestly didn’t know much about this young player. The only things I knew were there that she plays one-handed backhand and she won over Cirstea in Qualis. Of course it is something more and more rare nowadays but I like facing these king of opponents rather than power heads. Generally, they do not like spin shots and change down the line only once in a while.”

“I have played a good match and the courts look even faster this year. I am satisfied about my condition as I came in New York. Toronto was amazing, Cincinnati I was quite dead and New Haven, I know I could do better, but they all had got different surface settings.”

“I have always loved New York, both as tournament and city, I like Manhattan and I have been always having positive vibes here, so I’m up to the next round.”

Errani’s next opponent will be another young talent: Jelena Ostapenko – WTA’s n.114 – comes from Latvia and already succeeding in taking down a Top10 player this year – Carla Suarez Navarro in Wimbledon:

“Well, I know she had some good results since she were still in Juniores, she didn’t just make that exploit, so underestimating her would not be a wise choice if you ask me.”

For those who were already in Morpheus’ arms, here’s the highlights of the match (Errani v. Hibi).
