Even after the bitterness due to her latest elimination from the Singles draw in Round of 16 against one of the former US Open champions Samantha Stosur, our Sara Errani made sure to get her day better with a sweet win in Doubles, which grants her a spot into quarterfinals!

This was the third consecutive working day for a more and more exhaust Sarita, who was, nevertheless, eager to enjoy Labour Day as a day off rather than her last to spend in New York City this year. Still fighting through her flu symptoms that have been affecting her for the past few days, the n.1 of Italy got on court with her partner Flavia Pennetta once again with the purpose of getting her Singles pay back and stepping forward to her Doubles back-to-back success.

Also for the third time in 3 matches, the Italians found themselves opposed to an American duo: first Falconi/Tatishvili, then Muhammed/Sanchez, and finally Abigail Spears and Racquel Kops-Jones. The n.6 seeds of the draw got into last-16 round thanks to a walkover due to Eugenie Bouchard’s injury occurred the day before the match who force her to withdraw from the tournament.

The Americans – basing on their better physical condition – went straight for the first set in order to force Errani and Pennetta to a 3rd set aut-aut, and succeeded. Luckily, the n.11 seeds didn’t forget about their potential as former n.1s duo and stepped their game up right in time to avoid any further risks. Game, set, match: 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.

Arruabuarrena-Klepac will be their next opponents in quartefinals.
