Barcelona 2012: Solid win

As expected, it wasn’t an easy match, but Sara is through to the second round in Barcelona. She beat Irina-Camelia Begu 7-6(5), 6-4. In the first set, Sara took a 4-2 lead, but she couldn’t maintain the break, and the set ended in a tie-break. In the tiebreak, Begu took an early lead, but Sara came back and at 6-5 she closed the set out with a crosscourt winner. In the second set, both girls lost their service once, until Sara placed the deciding break at 5-4.

It was a close match, but Sara was playing well. Her service looked good, she was very solid, there was variety in her game (great dropshots!) and she was moving great. So, all in all, good performance for a first round, and a good way to leave the losses on American hardcourt behind her.

The doubles draw has also been done in Barcelona. Sara and Roberta are first seed, and they will play Kustova/Savchuk in the first round.
