Budapest 2011: Solid win

Sara scored a very solid win in Budapest today: 6-3, 6-1 over Madalina Gojnea. She had a slow start, and lost the first 3 games, but then she won 11 games in a row to go 6-3 5-0 up. She had some troubles closing the match out, but she did it in a long service game at 5-1. In the second round, which will be played on thursday, she will face Stefanie Voegele from Switzerland.

After the match, Sara said it wasn’t so easy:

“Matches in the first round are always tough. Especially coming from grass to clay, where the ball bounces higher. The match started badly for me, as I made several mistakes, but then my coach told me to take it easy, focus and just play my game. That put me back on track.”
