Sara hasn’t been able to pull off the upset at the Olympics. She lost in the first round against 5-times Wimbledon champion Venus Williams: 3-6, 1-6.
“I tried to do my best,” Sara said after the match, “but she did everything better than me. Then on a surface on which the points are so short, it was hard to make her move. I had to try and win more points without looking at the score. If you don’t make a lot of points, you can’t win.” About the atmosphere at the Olympics, Sara said: “it’s different than Wimbledon, it’s more like in Fed Cup.”
In doubles, Sara and Roberta had a better start: they opened with a solid 6-2, 6-3 win over Cetkovska/Safarova. In the second round they will face the Slovenian team of Klepac/Srebotnik.
Of course there are a few pictures from the Olympics in the photogallery.
