Sara has made the semifinal at the US Open! She beat Roberta Vinci 6-2, 6-4. It was obvious that is was difficult for both of them to play against a good friend on such a big stage. Neither of them showed a lot of emotion, and even after the last point, Sara barely celebrated.

The beginning of the match was very good from Sara; she took an early break, and didn’t have to concede a breakpoint on her own serve through the whole first set. The second set was closer than the first; both players lost service twice, until Sara placed the decisive break at 4-4.

In the semifinal Sara will play against Ana Ivanovic or Serena Williams.

Yesterday, Sara and Roberta made the semifinal in doubles together. They beat Goerges/Peschke 6-2, 7-6. In the semifinal they will play against Llagostera Vives/Martinez Sanchez.
