Our Sara Errani @ Roland Garros 2016 during her post-match press conference

It’s been one of the toughest moments/months for our Sara Errani: the very same clay who crowned her the 2012 Grand Slam finalist at the Roland Garros now betrays her and signs the 4th consecutive 1st round loss.

First Madrid, where our warrior leaves the court over a 7-5, 7-5, full credit due to her opponent; then Rome, where she couldn’t keep the pace in the decisive set; then again Strasbourg, where she started off strong but had a breakdown in the 3rd set; finally Paris: our Sarita did everything well in order to be fully prepared to break this negative streak, as her physical condition is now close to perfection and her response to practice has been always on point. Sara looks great and reacts perfectly in every situation on court. But there comes the match…

There is not an apparent cause to the problem, as Sara herself explained during her post-match press conference, right after left the Court 10 before her opponent, Tsvetana Pironkova (nd. Final score 6-3, 6-2).

“Why did it go this way?…Why it happened on you favorite surface?…Why? …I don’t know.”

“I dont’t know….I guess I will take my time to face the problem and try to understand where it came from and how to get rid of it, along with my team, my family and my friends. I would have to find out how to be back where I was, or maybe not. I need to decide what’s best for me and my life right now, considering what I wish or aim.”

“It’s not about my physical condition and that is for sure: if you had seen me practicing this morning or the entire week you would definitively have praised me.”

As for now Roland Garros’ Direction seems to offer its hand to our Sara Errani, since she will get back on court before the day after tomorrow, so she will have a full 2-days stop to take a break – not including daily practice. Both the time and the court have not been scheduled yet, nevertheless Sarita will be side to side to her partner Lara Arruabuarena on Thursday to play Doubles’ R1. The girls – n.12 seed in the draw – will face the duo composed by Barbora Strycova and M. Krajicek.
