Budapest 2011: withdrawal

Unfortunately Sara had to retire during her quarterfinal in Budapest yesterday. She won the first set against Anabel Medina Garrigues, 6-4 and in the second set, she served for the match at 5-4. Sara even had 2 matchpoints, but she just couldn’t close out the match, and Medina Garrigues took the second set 5-7. Because of the heat (it was 35 degrees in Budapest), the players got a long break between the second and third set. This break wasn’t enough for Sara though, when she served at 0-1 in the third set she got cramps in her leg. She was clearly in a lot of pain, and received treatment on court for quite a long time, but she wasn’t able to continue the match.

Hopefully it was just cramps, and Sara will be ok to play Palermo next week.
