Olympics 2012: Doubles quarterfinal

Sara and Roberta are in the quarterfinals at the Olympics, but it didn’t come easy. Their match against Klepac and Srebotnik got suspended halfway because of the rain, but eventually they could finish it and the Italian girls won 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. In the first two sets breakpoints and breaks were very scarce. The third set was a different story as Sara and Roberta took a 5-1 lead. The Slovenian girls came back to 5-4, but then they fell short and Sara and Roberta served the match out. In the quarterfinal they will play against the reigning Wimbledon champions, Serena and Venus Williams.

For the first time since 1924, mixed doubles is also played at the Olympics. Sara teamed up with Andreas Seppi, and unfortunately they lost in the first round. They played against 3rd seeds Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan, who won 7-5, 6-3.
