Unfortunately, Sara and Roberta weren’t able to win the Miami final. In the first set, they were a break up three times, and even served for the set twice, but each time they broke, Kirilenko and Petrova would break back straight away. The first set ended in a tiebreak, in which Sara and Roberta weren’t able to make a single point. The second set went better though, again there were a few breaks back and forth, but at 5-4, Sara and Roberta broke their opponents again, to win the set 6-4. The super tie-break that followed was won 10-4 by Kirilenko/Petrova.
Despite the loss, it was another good tournament for Sara and Roberta. Last year they did well in the small tournaments, but couldn’t quite do it in the bigger tournaments, and this year they have already made two finals in the two biggest tournaments so far! Thanks to this, Sara makes a new best ranking in doubles this week: she moves up to #12.
This week, Sara doesn’t play. She’ll be back next week at the Barcelona Ladies Open.
