The first part of the US hardcourt season continues, so once left Indian Wells we move straight to Miami for the second Premier Mandatory – the Miami Open presented by Itaù.
Sara will be the n.11 seed of the main draw again so she will also have a bye in the first round.
Her first match in the second round was splitted in every way: Sara, who was opposed to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova – n.38 of the ranking, 2-1 ahead in the records of which last one played and won in Monterrey by Cichi – put together a remarkable advantage (6-1, 4-1), still counting on her previous winning strategy against this player. Unfortunately rain came in and stopped the match. The day after: the 23-year-old born in Samara (Russia) waked up on the right side of the bed, sounding the charge for her come back (4-4). Still, Sara found her way to the break so putting an end to Pavlyuchenkova’s return. However, she was not willing to back down so it took a tie-break to finally decide the winner: 7-5, after a 4-1 advantage and 2 failed match balls.
Coming up on the third round, Garbine Muguruza, WTA’s n.19 and 21° seed within the draw, with whom Sara has an “unfinished business” since Sydney’s 1st round.
