The “Odd couple” is a step closer to BNP Paribas Open’s Finals, as our Sara Errani and her partner Oksana Kalashnikova just clinched a well-deserved Semifinal round by defeating the veterans Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.
Also, this has been just the perfect time for Sarita to have a very sweet payback on the Czech duo, who prevented her and former partner Roberta Vinci from getting thus far into Indian Wells’ Doubles draw – Hlavackova/Hradecka won their previous meeting in 2010’s QFs, (4)2-6, 6-7.
Today was a great display of consistency and feeling by our girls, since they had to clash with a 1st set disadvantage, as the n.4-seeded duo stopped the early back-and-forth scoring a lethal break. Nevertheless, Errani and Kalashnikova put their best effort to got out of the trailing phase and succeeded to even the match. Finally, they still had the energy to go all-in during the decisive super tie-break to earn a major victory. Final score: 3-6, 6-3, 10-5.
Tomorrow, not before 1.30pm local time, our Sara Errani will take over the Stadium 1 to face the power couple Goerges/Ka.Pliskova and hopefully secure a spot into her 1st Premier Mandatory Final of the season.
