The “Odd Couple” moves forward in the Doubles draw of the Californian combined in Indian Wells. During the Italian evening, in fact, our Sara Errani and her last-second partner Oksana Kalashnikova came out as winners from the intense clash against the Ukranian duo Bondarenko-Savchuk and reached Quarterfinals round of the first American Premier Mandatory tournament of 2016.

Sarita’s staying in Indian Wells’ 5-stars desert is quindi going to continue in spite of her premature R2 loss in Singles at the hands of WTA’s n.36 Lesia Tsurenko. The last match recorded in Toronto’s QFs favoured the Azzurra but the Ukranian was war-ready this time and succeeded in putting hurdles in the way of our Errani. First, she took the early lead (4-2), then she kept her cool enough to stop the n.15-seed comeback and closed the game. Final score: 4-6, 3-6.

Fortunately, Doubles outcomes sweetened the blow, as Sarita and Oksana, ate every last bit of the cake put on the table in front of one of the most dangerous Doubles team of the tour and winners of the 2013 WTA Championships: Su-Wei Peng and Shuai Peng. Final score: 6-0, 6-2.

The Odd Couple also reached quartefinals rushing over the duo Bondarenko-Savchuk – Garcia/Mladenovic’s Alternates after their withdrawal due to Caroline’s injury – coming back from a 2-5 trail in the super tie-break. Final score: 7-6(5), 5-7, 10-8.

Today, not before 2pm local time, the girls will be back on court (Stadium 3) to face another tough opponent such as the Czech duo represented by Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradeckan.4 seed in the draw.
