US Open 2012: First round win

It was a tough start, but Sara won her first match at the US Open today. She played against Garbine Muguruza, and in the first set and a half she played really solid; she won the first set 6-4 and the second set went on serve until 3-3. At that point, Sara started making more errors, while Muguruza kept her level up, and the Spanish girl went a break up twice. Sara kept fighting though, and the set went to a tie-break, which Muguruza finally won on her 5th setpoint. In the 3rd set, Muguruza looked spent – Sara won it easily with 6-1.

Even though the match went three sets, it was a good opening for Sara. She played well through most of the match. In the second round, she’ll face Vera Dushevina from Russia.

Tomorrow Sara and Roberta open their doubles tournament against Lepchenko and Zheng.
