Roland Garros 2012: First round Singles win

It didn’t come easy today, but in the end Sara won her first round match against Casey Dellacqua and is through to the second round at Roland Garros. The first set was very close, with breaks for both players, until Dellacqua placed the decisive break at the end of the set: 6-4 for her. The second set started with breaks for both players, until Sara held serve in the 5th game, and won 4 straight games to win the set. The 3rd set went smoother, except for one little hiccup while she was serving for the match. She got broken in that game, but broke straight back to win the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. In the next round, Sara will play against Melanie Oudin. They played once before, in Hobart in 2010, and even though Sara won, that was a very close match.

The website of the FIT has a video interview with Sara after the match, while ubitennis has a written interview. Of course there are also pictures from the match in the photogallery.

Meanwhile, the doubles draw has also been released. Sara and Roberta are 4th seeds and play Brianti/Mayr-Achleitner in the first round.
