A massive win against world’s n.4 Petra Kvitova for our Sara Errani today. Even though match records stated a tough 0-6, our warrior managed to overcome one difficult first round pick and pass through the n.2 seed in straight sets (7-5, 6-4). Her next opponent will be the French woman Caroline Garcia.
Here’s Sara’s comment during post-match press conference in Beijing:
“Well, even though I have played her so many times it is the first one I win. As usual against Petra I expected to be a tough match and that is why I am so happy I pull off such a victory in a big tournament like Beijing.
There has been no big difference between me and her today, I would say just a few points. I was focused on my game, trying to stay solid from the baseline since she is a well-known power hitter, and not to make many unforced errors in order for me to have better chances.
Of course I was a little discouraged by my draw pick, I was at the ceremony and I was the last one coming out so I knew from the beginning it was not going be an easy first match.”
“Regarding the next round – it is not going to be easy either. I have lost against her (Garcia) last week in Wuhan. She is a really good player but I will try my best like I did today.“
