Before heading back to the States for the second part of the hardcourt season, Sarita would make 2 stops on clay: the first of which will be the BRD Bucharest Open this week.
Sara will debut as n.1 seed in the draw to meet WTA n.140, Cagla Buyukakcay in first round. Right after a missed match in Wimbledon, she might face her former doubles partner Roberta Vinci, as n.2 seed, in the finals.
The n.1 Italian player went off of a good start and the first set run smooth as silk, ending with a partial 6-2 score and a 1:3 breaks comparison. Sara managed to limit Buyukakcay powershots and lead the majority of the rallies, while in the second, her opponent became even more aggressive and forced her way through Sara’s shield to take a 3-1 advantage. She thus began a chase til the tie-break: Buyukakcay finally got her back against the wall and couldn’t avoid Our fighter’s mighty overtaking. Final score: 6-2, 7-6 (2).
Her next challnger will be the winner of the clash Kateryna Bondarenko v. Shahar Peer.
