We are back and live from Melbourne Park’s venue, which is currently holding the Australian Open 2016 edition! The last and most important event of the Aussie WTA Tour session has finally arrived and appears to be a very good one basing on the result achieved in Sydney’s Premier tournament last week.

In fact, our Sara Errani reached quarterfinals thanks to 2 stunning performances over the n.7 seed Carla Suarez Navarro and the former world’s n.1 Jelena Jankovic. She eventually had to bend to the tournament’s newest champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova.

As for the 1st Grand Slam event fo the year, our former Roland Garros finalist will make her debut within Singles’ main draw – where she stands as n.17-seeded player – against Margarita Gasparyan: the 21-year-old Muscovite, who’s currently n.60 in the world rankings, catched her first WTA title ever in Baku over Patricia Maria Tig in 2015 and scored 3 wins during the last month of Tour – 2 in Brisbane’s qualifying draw and 1 in Hobart’s main draw.

Sara’s match will take place overnight at 11am local time.

Also, since a Grand Slam event is too relevant to be missed, our Sara Errani will be back into Doubles’ competition to fight the n.1 duo Hingis/Mirza – since the defending champions could not play due to Safarova’s injury – next to Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez. The Spanish veteran has just came back from a maternity leave and is ready to chasing another success with Sarita after WTA’s Moscow 2009. The girls will face the USA team composed by  Racquel Atawo and Abigail Spears in first round.
