Australian Open 2012: Singles 2nd round win

Sara is into the third round of the Australian Open, after a very good win over Nadia Petrova. The match started quite close, especially the 3rd and 4th game were very close and very long. But Sara won both these games, and this turned out to be the key to winning the first set. She broke Petrova’s serve once more at the end of the set, and won it 6-2. In the second set, Petrova finally got a break (after missing 6 previous breakpoints), but she got broken back right away, and didn’t recover from that; Sara won the second set 6-2 as well.

Throughout the match, Sara played really well, and with a lot of confidence. She hit a total of 19 winners, to only 16 unforced errors. Perhaps the best example of the confidence Sara was playing with was in the last game. Sara was serving, and Petrova had two breakpoints, but Sara saved them both by hitting great dropshots.

In the 3rd round, Sara will play against Sorana Cirstea. They have played three times before and Sara won the last two meetings.
